- Q: How long have you been in the web hosting industry?
A: All of our staff have over a decade of experience or more, each. Our owners have been each doing web hosting exclusively for about 15-17 years, 8-16+ hours a day, usually 7 days a week, all the time performing everything from first line of support to high level systems administration. The partners that formed BurlyHost.com, Inc. left high level positions at known hosting companies to provide something better, where the other hosts are lacking.
- Q: How long has BurlyHost.com itself been in business?
A: BurlyHost.com, Inc. started as a normal business (DBA) in 2006 and become incorporated in early 2008.
- Q: What makes BurlyHost.com, Inc. different from other hosts?
A: Having worked in high level positions at many known companies, both small and large, we noticed a lot lacking that we knew we could do better. Everything from how the business is structured and how it operates, to server technologies, solutions and more, right down to customer satisfaction, to matters such as honesty and integrity by owners, management and staff.
- Q: Is BurlyHost.com, Inc. a reseller?
A: No. We are a real hosting company that you get web services directly from. We own the servers, have root access and control every aspect of the hosting services and systems. We do, however, offer anonymous reseller services to our clients.
- Q: What services does BurlyHost.com, Inc. offer?
A: We offer shared hosting, anonymous reseller hosting, VPS hosting, semi-dedicated server hosting, dedicated server hosting, custom programming and server administration, as well as domain name and SSL certificate purchasing.
- Q: Do you offer custom hosting plans?
A: Yes, we do. We realize that sometimes the posted hosting plans and prices do not meet a client's desires or needs regarding the specifications, limits, prices or features, and we offer the ability to customize plans to suit your needs and budget.
- Q: How long does it take to set up an account?
A: After you order, your account is usually provisioned within minutes, but can take several hours depending on the number of orders in the order queue, and if the order passes the immediate fraud protection checks. We take every measure to ensure that we never sign up a fraudulent order, and this can sometimes cause a delay of a few hours before account provisioning.
- Q: Do you offer a money back guarantee?
A: Yes, we offer a 30 day, unconditional money back guarantee.
- Q: Do you offer an uptime guarantee?
A: Yes, we promise a 99.9% uptime guarantee or better. We strive for 100% uptime of all vital services and systems and will provide up to a full month's credit if we fail to meet that number.
- Q: What forms of payment do you accept?
A: We accept all four major credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express), PayPal, e-check, wire transfer, as well as personal and business checks and money orders.
- Q: If I'm moving from another web host to you, do you transfer data from them to my new account?
A: Yes, we do! We offer a free transfer service for new accounts, and depending on the server you're moving from and what options they offer will determine what type of data can be moved. In general, if we move a Cpanel based hosting account to us, you should be able to have all of the data, email, databases, etc. moved over. The time it takes can depend in the connection speed of your previous host and how much data there is.
- Q: Do you allow clients to upgrade and downgrade?
A: Yes, you may do so at any time. We can pro-rate your last plan and apply that credit to the new plan.
- Q: Do you offer Cpanel/WHM?
A: Yes, as Cpanel/WHM is a popular control panel for regular shared hosting and reseller hosting, we offer this software/interface to you. We also include the popular Fantastico script installer and include the RvSkin themes for our reseller accounts.
- Q: Do you oversell your services? Why not?
A: No. Few clients would ever use tremendous amounts of resources and physics dictate it's not possible. We offer generous amounts of resources for a fair price. We are not interested in trying to undersell the competition. Overselling only creates problematic and overloaded servers, and unhappy clients. We believe in being honest and providing our clients with a quality service to get their business, rather than simply resorting to promising the impossible just to make a buck.
- Q: Do you perform daily backups?
A: Yes, we back up all data, daily, but we encourage users to always keep frequent and relevant backups of their site's data
